Come Home Mr. Martinez was an album inspired by my recovery
journey. As I sought help for healing from my porn addiction
God have me this title a few months in. 'Come Home' being God’s
invitation to me to enter into a safe place He has marked out
for me. 'Mr. Martinez' is meant to symbolize the way God views
me. He sees me as a mature adult in Him because of the adopted
name he’s given me. My journey the past 4 years has been one of
growing in self awareness and a striving to accept that I am who
God says I am and have the freedom to be exactly who I am and who
He has made me to be.

Growing up in a nominally Catholic home gave John Bryan a very secular understanding of who God is. His understanding of God was closer to Family Guys’ sacrilegious depiction than it was to the God of reality. God simply was a distant cosmic figure that looked over us. John's Mother sent him away at 13 to a christian camp that introduced him to the true Jesus. Out of mere fear of going to hell he submitted his life to God through the sinners prayer. His faith would start to take the shape of a relationship with Jesus at age 17 after a break up that made him consider the affections of his heart more honestly. He realized that his life was centered around his passions and desires and not actually on Jesus as he had been professing. He would answer the call to follow Jesus and pursue a life dedicated to ministry.
This served as a springboard for John into a world of introspective struggle like he had never realized before. John had a desire to follow Jesus, but residual affections for pleasure and success would infiltrate his walk and shape his view of ministry. After 10 years of beating himself up for porn addiction and dissatisfaction with the lack of progression in ministry, God brought him to the broken road of recovery that would reveal the true heart of ministry. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). After three years of God showing John just how deep his depravity really is, he was exposed to a whole host of issues that have propelled him into a ministry of testifying to just how deep the Father’s love extends. John has since moved away from a pontificating view of ministry to one that is geared toward expressing the way God meets him in his brokenness.

Speak Out is about John Bryan finding his voice as an artist. The feel is one of outward expression as he seeks to tackle a myriad of issues. In the midst of a world that desires to silence objectivity and Christian truth, this EP seeks to break through vocal oppression and be a voice of hope in a morally relativistic society.
Birth of a Vision Mixtape (2012)
The result of being responsive to what God was doing in the moment while trying to use music for the kingdom of God. It’s a combination of introspection, struggle with sin, and gospel centered thoughts with hopes of influencing minds to think about Jesus and what it means to follow him.
